Jason stumbles on to pure gold: How to quiet the Dell PoweEdge 1750.

 

Recently we put a refurbished Dell PowerEdge 1750 into our local server room as a development/test server. We noticed immediately this server was approximately 10 times louder than any other server we had. We Googled for a solution and several other people having the same exact problem over the past few years since the 1750 were found, but hardly anyone with any answer resembling good. Until we found the exact solution here:
 
 
We neglected to plug in both power supplies into a current source, and caused the server to blow at max speed. Thank you Mr. Guill!
 
I hope this short blog post helps someone else, as we were growing frustrated at the lack of adequate responses at the following URLs.

It is a simple solution but it works perfect for us! Plug in both power supplies and normal quiet operation will resume!
